IRVINGTON, NJ – Irvington High School’s Dwight Henry, Desmond Marfo and Andrea Jackson posted strong performances at the NJSIAA boys and girls indoor track and field Group 3 State Championships at the Bennett Center in Toms River, Feb. 16.
Henry, a junior, finished second in the boys 55-meter hurdles finals in 7.57. He also finished 13th in the 55-meter dash preliminaries in 6.82.
Marfo, a senior, took fifth place in the boys 800-meter finals in 2:01.53. The IHS boys 4×400 relay team finished ninth in the finals in 3:34.76. Sophomore Mattias Litus was 20th in the boys 55 hurdles preliminaries in 8.70.
Jackson, a senior, was the lone IHS girls competitor. She took sixth in the 55 hurdles finals in 8.67.
The Group meet consisted of the top six finishers in each event from the sectional meets.
With their top-six finishes, Henry, Marfo and Jackson automatically qualified for the NJSIAA Meet of Champions. The boys Meet of Champions will be held Feb. 23, while the girls MOC will be Feb. 24, both at the Bennett Center.
