Irvington HS indoor track & field teams impress at ECTA Season Opener

The Irvington High School indoor track and field teams enjoyed fine efforts to start the season.

At the Essex County Track Association Season Opener Invitational, the boys’ team finished sixth and the girls team finished 11th out of a field of 39 teams at Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island on Dec. 15.

IHS medal winners:

Boys

Dwight Henry, first place, 55-meter hurdles; 7.76 seconds, fourth place, 200-meters, 23:01 seconds; 55-meters, eighth place, 6.83 seconds.

Desmond Marfo, sixth place, 1,600 meters, 4:40.

4×400-meter relay: Marfo, Jared Manifold, Peter Francois, Devin Seward, third place, 3:36 (qualified for the Penn Relays in the spring).

Girls

Andrea Jackson, second place, 55-meter hurdles, 8.74 seconds.

Neissa Villius, sixth place, high jump, 4 feet-8 inches.
