IRVINGTON, NJ – The Irvington High School indoor track & field teams, under head coach Marvin Hawkins, hope to achieve a successful season this winter.
The top returning athletes for the boys’ team are junior Dwight Henry, senior Desmond Marfo, and sophomore Devin Seward.
Henry currently is ranked No. 1 in the 55-meters and No. 2 in the 55-meter hurdles for North Jersey Section 2, Group 3.
Marfo is ranked No. 5 in the 800 meters and Seward is ranked No. 2 in the 400 meters.
“Great expectations best describes the Blue Knights this indoor season!” Hawkins said.
The Blue Knights have a talented supporting cast. They include:
Junior
- Jared Manifold, sprints and middle distance
Seniors
- Cordell Litus, hurdles and middle distance
- Adnon Kpodo, middle distance.
- Wilfrantz Therzy, middle distance
- Steve Corneille, jumps
Sophomore
- Matthias Litus, hurdles, sprints, jumps, and middle distance.
On the girls’ side, Irvington will be led by by senior Andrea Jackson, currently ranked No. 3 in North Jersey Section 2, Group 3 in the 55 hurdles; Taliyah Hayes, who is ranked No. 12 in the 400m, and rising star Ariana Ruiz in the 800 and 1,600.
