Irvington HS track and field teams sweep meet vs. West Side and East Side

IRVINGTON, NJ – The Irvington High School boys’ and girls’ track and field teams swept a meet with West Side and East Side on April 19 at Schools Stadium in Newark.

IHS boys’ first-place finishers:

100-meters: Dwight Henry, 10.7.

200-meters: Henry, 24 feet.

400-meters: Michael Veltz, 53.3.

1,600-meters: Desmond Marfo, 5:00.

3,200-meters: Marfo, 11:18.

Javelin: Henry, 108 feet.

Discus: Richard Norman, 63 feet-4 inches.

The boys’ team, under head coach Marvin Hawkins, improved to 5-2, while the girls’ team, under head coach Barnes Reid, improved to 4-3.
