Irvington HS track teams give good efforts at Essex County Relay meet

IRVINGTON – The Irvington High School boys’ and girls’ track and field teams competed at the Essex County Relay Championships on Friday, May 6, at Livingston High School.

Though the teams did not place in the top six in any event, they gave good efforts.

The boys’ 4×400-meter relay finished eighth out of 22 schools. The boys’ 4×100 finished ninth out of 19 schools.

In the boys’ discus relay, senior Craig Bradley threw 118 feet, 2 inches and fellow senior Dejah Grier threw 107 feet to combine for an eighth-place finish out of 23 schools.

In the boys’ shot put relay, Grier threw 37 feet, 1 1/4 inches and senior Trevon Ashman threw 34-10 to combine for a 16th-place finish out of 25 schools.

The Blue Knights will gear up for the Super Essex Conference Championships on Saturday, May 14, at Schools Stadium in Newark.

The Essex County Championships will be held May 20-21 in Montclair.
