Irvington HS wrestling team excels as its hosts its annual Christmas tourney to start the season

IRVINGTON, NJ — The Irvington High School wrestling team, under longtime head coach Kyle Steele, hosted its annual Blue Knights Christmas tournament on Saturday, Dec. 18, to open the season.

The Blue Knights finished third overall.

IHS was led by several standouts.

Zaahmir Anderson, at the 157-pound weight class, was named the Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament.

Lensley Therlonge, at 215, won gold and was the fastest pin winner.

Jayson Turner and Isaiah Austin each took second place. Demo Clenord took third place.

Tanya Pelt, a female competitor, recorded two pins.
