IRVINGTON (updated Tuesday August 9, 9:56 a.m.) – Jacksonville Jaguars safety Josh Evans will make another homecoming when his team plays the New York Jets in teams’ preseason scrimmage opener on  August 11 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

Evans, entering his fourth season, has played his entire career for the Jaguars, who drafted him in the sixth round in 2013.

It marks Evans’ fourth game at MetLife Stadium in his career with the Jaguars.

Last season, the Jaguars twice came to MetLife. Jacksonville played the Giants in the second preseason game. The Giants won, 27-12, August 22. Then in Week 9 of the regular season, the Jaguars played the Jets, who won 28-23, Nov. 8.

In his rookie season, the Jaguars played the Jets in the second preseason game and lost, 37-13.

Evans, a 6-foot, 198-pounder, was a standout quarterback/defensive back for the Irvington High School Blue Knights football team. After he was graduated from IHS in 2009, Evans continued his career at the University of Florida as a safety.

Last season, Evans posted 53 tackles in playing all 16 games with 12 starts.
