Newark to host Pop Warner Championship Games on Saturday, Oct. 29, at Untermann Field, and on Sunday, Oct. 30, at Shabazz

NEWARK, NJ – Mayor Ras J. Baraka and Director of Recreation, Cultural Affairs, and Senior Services Patrick Council announced that the City of Newark will host the 2016 Pop Warner Football championship games on Saturday, Oct. 29, at Untermann Field, and Sunday, Oct. 30, at Malcolm X Shabazz High School Stadium, starting at 10 a.m. on both days, and continuing all day.
The championship games are the cap to the Newark Pop Warner season, and winners of these games will move on to regional and statewide competitions. The championship games will be held in round robin formats.

“The Newark Pop Warner Football program has enabled generations of Newark youth to enjoy wholesome and exciting football competition while learning valuable lessons about teamwork, discipline, and maintaining good physical health. Every youth who participates in Pop Warner is a champion, and I urge all Newark residents to cheer on all of our champions at the games this weekend,” Mayor Baraka said.
