PHOTOS: Irvington HS football team crushes Lincoln of Jersey City in season opener

IRVINGTON, NJ (updated Sunday Sept. 10, 8:40 a.m.) – Senior quarterback Brandon Robinson, a transfer from nearby Columbia HS, had a great debut for the Blue Knights. Robinson was 12 of 18 passing for 220 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 34 yards on three carries.

Senior receiver Jasiah Provillon had three catches for 45 yards and a touchdown. The North Carolina State commit also had six tackles and an interception on defense.

Senior running back Nim Salaam powered the ground game with 154 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries. He also had one catch for 22 yards.

Freshman running back Zahir Abdus Salaam rushed for 66 yards and a TD on eight attempts. He also had three punt returns for 62 yards and finished with 128 all-purpose yards.

The defense was outstanding. Senior end Lancine Turay had 10 tackles, five for loss, with two sacks; senior linebacker Keyon Bowman posted 11 tackles; junior middle linebacker Nashawn Brooks recorded nine tackles, one for loss; senior tackle Jalen Scott notched seven tackles, three for loss,with one sack; and senior tackle Carl Napoleon had five tackles, two for loss, with one sack.
