Smallest levels perform big for Irvington Golden Knights football

IRVINGTON, NJ – While the oldest level (13-year-old) is favorites to win the league championship, it was the youngest levels that shined bright for the Irvington Golden Knights Pop Warner football program.
Flag (5-6) had a strong showing in their first game against Newark’s South East, and the Tiny Mites (6-7), nicknamed “The Money Team” and the Mighty Mites (8-9) both increased their records to 2-0. The Tiny Mites beat Sayreville, 21-0, and the Mighty Mites beat South East, 29-0. Neither team has given up a point this season.

The Irvington Golden Knights will be in action on Sept. 16. Flag is at 11 a.m. and Tiny Mites at noon at Nat Turner field in Newark. Mighty Mites, at 9 a.m.; Jr. Varsity, at 10:30 a.m.; Jr. Pee Wee (10-11), at noon; and Pee Wee (12), at noon at Unterman Field in Newark.
