Top-seeded Irvington HS boys’ soccer team cruises to North 2, Group 3 state quarterfinals

IRVINGTON, NJ – Stoichkov Joseph scored three goals and added an assist and Jean Kemser Desinor had two goals and one assist to lead the top-seeded Irvington High School boys’ varsity soccer team to a 7-1 win over Payne Tech in the first round of the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2, Group 3 state tournament on Oct. 29 at IHS.

Cosadinov Joseph had a goal and an assist and Pamaland Njie had a goal for the Blue Knights, who improved to a 11-3-1 record.

Irvington will host No. 9 seed Cliffside Park in the quarterfinals on Nov. 1. The winner will face the winner of No. 13 Matawan and No. 12 Summit in the semifinals on Nov. 5.

The final is Nov. 8.

The other quarterfinals pit No. 6 Parsippany Hills at No. 3 Millburn and No. 7 Somerville at No. 2 Mendham.
