MAPLEWOOD – Morristown-Beard School sophomore golfer Pat Ryan, of Maplewood, and senior teammate Steve Sields, of  Florham Park, finished first overall at the Metedeconk Prep Challenge on Sunday, May 1, in Jackson.

Together, the MBS golfers beat some of the best teams in the state, including Delbarton, Bergen Catholic, Peddie School, Blair Academy, Lawrenceville, and many others.

The tournament was a “better ball” format, meaning both golfers play their own ball, and at the end of each hole, they count the better of the two scores. Despite inclement weather, they finished with a 36 for the nine-hole event, which is par for that course.
