Coppin State standout Jack Kraft of Nutley named MEAC Baseball Player of the Week

NUTLEY – Coppin State University senior outfielder John Kraft was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Baseball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday, April 4.

The Nutley native went 8-for-15 (.533) with three home runs, seven RBIs, three doubles, six runs scored and three walks, in four games against Georgetown and Norfolk State. He registered five putouts. Kraft also was named Player of the Week by College Sports Madness, which identifies the players who have made the greatest impact to their team from each conference and on a national basis each week.

Kraft is currently ranked in the top 20 nationally for home runs, slugging percentage, O.P.S. and home runs per game. He is in the top 10 in the MEAC in numerous categories, including slugging percentage (1st) home runs (2nd) Runs Batted In (5th) and batting average (9th). He has compiled a 2.77 career ERA while pitching mainly in relief for the CSU Eagles.
