Nutley HS baseball team defeats rival Belleville for first win of season

NUTLEY – Senior third baseman Andrew Santos went 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and a run; freshman Marty shortstop Higgins went 2-for-3 with a double and a RBI and senior right fielder Anthony Condito went 1-for-2 with two walks and two RBI to lead the Nutley High School varsity baseball team to a 10-3 home win over rival Belleville on Friday, April 8.

It was the Raiders’ first win of the season as they moved to a 1-3 record.

NHS tied it 1-1 in the bottom of the third inning and scored eight runs in the fourth for a 9-1 lead.

Junior first baseman Jake Ramezanna went 1-for-3 with two RBI and senior center fielder Andrew Connor went 1-for-3 with two RBI, two runs and a walk for the Raiders.

John Lawton struck out five and allowed one earned run on three hits and three walks over 5 ⅔ innings for NHS.
