Nutley HS baseball team’s rally falls short against undefeated Seton Hal Prep as three-game winning streak ends

NUTLEY – The Nutley High School varsity baseball team made a good comeback bid against undefeated Seton Hall Prep. But the rally fell short as the Raiders lost, 9-7, at the Kelly Athletic Complex in West Orange in a Super Essex Conference-American Division game.

SHP scored a run in the bottom of the first inning; two runs in the second and one run in the fourth for a 4-0 lead.

The Raiders chipped away with two runs in the top of the fourth and one run in the fifth to get within 4-3.

SHP regained the momentum with a run in the bottom of the fifth and four runs in the sixth to extend the lead to 9-3.

In the top of the seventh, the Raiders rallied for four runs in their final inning, but the comeback fell short.

Andrew Santos went 2-for-4 with two RBI and Anthony Condito drove in two runs for the Raiders, who had their three-game winning streak end and moved to a 5-5 record.

Seton Hall Prep improved to a 9-0 record.
