Nutley HS boys’ basketball team defeats Belleville in Charlie Dolan Tournament in Kearny

NUTLEY – The Nutley High School boys’ varsity basketball team lost to Dickinson before defeating rival Belleville in the Charlie Dolan Tournament in Kearny.

Freshman Marty Higgins scored 19 points and senior Devin White had eight points in the 75-51 loss to Dickinson on Dec. 29. Seniors Will Montgomery and Antonio Olivo each had six points and senior Geoff Bevere, senior GianCarlo Padilla and sophomore Matt Schettino each had four points.

Higgins scored 24 points, including three pointers, in the 64-57 overtime win over Belleville. Schettino had 14 points, Bevere had 13 points, Montgomery scored six points, White had five points and Olivo had two points.

In earlier action, Schettino scored 22 points, hitting four 3-pointers, to lead the Raiders to a 72-33 win at Caldwell on Dec. 22. Higgins had 14 points; Montgomery scored 12 points and Bevere contributed 10 points.
