NUTLEY, NJ – The Nutley High School boys’ varsity basketball team, seeded 12th, lost at fifth-seeded Irvington, 75-45, in the first round of the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2, Group 3 state tournament on Monday, Feb. 26.
Junior guard Marty Higgins scored 18 points; junior center Elijah Acosta had 13 points; senior guard Matt Schettino had eight points; senior guard Anthony Fabiano had five and junior guard Jason Nazuruk added a free throw for the Raiders, who finished the successful season with a 12-11 record. It was a nice improvement from last year’s 9-17 mark.
