NUTLEY, NJ – The Nutley High School boys’ varsity soccer team defeated arch rival Belleville, 2-1, in overtime Saturday, Sept. 29 in Belleville.
Belleville opened up the scoring with an early goal in the first half. A few minutes into the second half, sophomore Charlie Contini scored a goal off of a corner.
At the end of regulation, the game was still tied. In the first overtime, junior JP Maruri scored the game-winning goal, assisted by senior Garrett Groeling.
Nutley improved to 4-1.
