Nutley HS cross-country runners earn honors

NUTLEY – The following Nutley High School boys’ and girls’ cross-country runners have earned All-Super Essex Conference honors:

Boys

SEC-Liberty Division

First team: senior Luke Michels, sophomore Jimmy Quinn and junior Eric Volger.

Second team: sophomore Gerard Dimayuga, junior Matt DaSilva, and senior Anthony Castronova.

Honorable mention: sophomore Darren Ramirez.

Girls

SEC-American Division

First team: sophomore Ellie McCreesh.

Second team: senior Chloe Jelley and sophomore Shawna Lewis.

Honorable mention: senior Danielle Mannino and  junior Amanda Zheng.

In addition, Michels, Quinn and Vogler on the boys’ side, and McCreesh, Jelley, Lewis, Mannino, Zheng, NHS junior Nicolette Contella, and NHS senior Justine Conca on the girls’ side have all earned Worrall Media All-Area honors. McCreesh and West Orange High School freshman Alina Chant are the All-Area Girls’ Cross-Country Runners of the Year. McCreesh was third overall to lead the NHS girls’ team to a third-place overall finish at the Essex County Championship meet at Brookdale Park in Bloomfield this season.

NHS head coach Gerard Ryan is the All-Area Girls’ Cross-Country Coach of the Year.
