Nutley HS ice hockey rallies to tie Millburn; falls to Verona/Glen Ridge, to move to 6-5-1

NUTLEY – The Nutley High School varsity ice hockey team rallied to tie Millburn, 2-2 tie, on Jan. 8, at Richard J. Codey Arena in West Orange.

Trailing 2-0, the Raiders scored two goals in the third period.  Christian McCue scored to cut it to 2-1 with 6:19 remaining with assists by Mark Frade and Gerard LaFuria. Zach Vaughan scored on a power-play goal to tie it with 1:40 remaining with assists by O’Connell and LaFuria. Timothy Spitalnik made 30 saves for the Raiders.

NHS fell to Verona/Glen Ridge, 5-2, Jan. 10, at Richard J. Codey Arena in West Orange. Vaughan had one goal and one assist; Cullen McCormack had one goal; Conor Eng and Sean Giordano each had one assist; and Joe Hoarle made 25 saves for the Raiders, who moved to a 6-5-1 record.
