Nutley HS ice hockey team splits first two games of season

NUTLEY – The Nutley High School varsity ice hockey team, under first-year head coach Anthony Yelovich, split its first two games of the season.

Gerard LaFuria scored two goals, including the game-winner with 2:50 left in the third period, to lift the Raiders to a 3-2 win over Millburn in the season opener on Friday, Dec. 4, at Codey Arena in West Orange. LaFuria also assisted on Zach Vaughan’s goal. Vaughan had assists on both of LaFuria’s goals. Christian McCue had one assist and Joe Hoarle made 13 saves for the Raiders.

The next night, the Raiders lost to Livingston, 3-0, at Codey Arena.
