Nutley HS ice hockey team ties Chatham

NUTLEY – Sophomore Cullen McCormack and senior Zach Vaughan each had one goal and one assist to lead the Nutley High School varsity ice hockey team to a 2-2 tie with Chatham on Jan. 18 at Mennen Arena in Morristown.

Nutley led 2-1 at the end of the second period before Chatham tied it early in the third period.

Senior Danny Render had one assist and senior goalie Joe Hoarle made 27 saves for the Raiders, who moved to a 6-6-2 record.

McCormack scored a power-play goal in the first period to tie it 1-1. Vaughan scored late in the second period for a 2-1 lead.

In the previous game, LaFuria, Render and Vaughan each had one goal in the 5-3 loss to Livingston on Jan. 15 at Richard J. Codey Arena. McCormack had two assists; senior Sean Giordano and senior Greg O’Connell each had one assist; and Hoarle made 30 saves.
