Nutley HS indoor track and field teams give good efforts at County meet

NUTLEY – Matt DaSilva, a junior, took fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:02.62 and sophomore Jimmy Quinn finished fifth in the 3,200-meter run in 10:03.16 to lead the Nutley High School boys’ indoor track and field team at the Essex County Individual Championships at the Jersey City Armory on Sunday, Jan. 31.

Based on those top-six finishes by DaSilva and Quinn, the NHS boys’ team finished 14th in the team standings.

On the girls’ side, NHS was led by junior Hannah Simcsuk, who tied for fourth in the high jump at 4 feet, 6 inches for the Lady Raiders’ lone top-six finish to finish 17th overall in the team standings.

Weequahic won the boys’ team title and Montclair won the girls’ team crown.
