Nutley HS track and field athletes earn All-SEC honors

NUTLEY – The following Nutley High School track and field athletes have earned All-Super Essex Conference-Liberty Division honors:

Boys

First Team – Matt Dasilva – 800 meters. Highlight came at the NJSIAA North 1, Group 3 Meet at River Dell HS. Won four medals in the 400 IH, 800 meters, 4×400 and 4×800. Ran a lifetime best of 1:59.08 in the 800 meters there.

First Team – Jimmy Quinn – 3,200 meters. Highlight came at the Essex County Championships where he ran a 9:38.81 and took fifth.

Second Team – Giancarlo Padilla – High Jump. Highlight came at the NJSIAA North 1, Group 3 meet. He ran a lifetime best 11.49 and took fifth in the 100 meters and matched a lifetime best in the high jump at 5 feet-10 inches.

Honorable Mention – Lou Long – Pole Vault and Javelin. Highlight came at the SEC Championship meet where he medalled in both events at 10-6 and 142-5.

Girls

First Team – Chloe Jelley – 3,200 meters. Highlight came at the SEC Championship meet in which she won the 3,200 at 12:18.84 and took second in the 1,600 in 5;31.48.

Second Team – Jaela Small – Jumps. Highlight came at the SEC Championship meet where she took third in the triple jump at 31-7 ¾.

Honorable Mention – Jenna Marino – Throws. Highlight came at the SEC Championships where she medalled in the shot put (31-9) and the discus (87-2).
