Nutley HS wrestling team defeats Bloomfield

NUTLEY – The Nutley High School varsity wrestling team defeated Bloomfield, 49-26, Friday, Jan. 29, at Bloomfield. Robert Duxbury, who won his third Essex County Tournament title on Jan. 22, recorded a 51-second pin over Jaydin Ortiz in the 138-pound to lead the Raiders.

Darwin Pena recorded a 54-second pin over Elijah Hernandez in the 160-pound bout, and Joe DiPasquale, who also won an ECT title, earned a 12-0 major decision win over Luis Rivera in the 152-pound bout for the Raiders. Frank DeMaio pinned Jordan Colon in 3:30 in the 132-pound bout and Louis Long pinned Victor Abril in 2:37 in the 170 bout and Justin Bivona earned a 5-1 win over Liam Johnson in the 195 bout for NHS.

The next day, the Raiders lost to both Emerson, 36-30, and Ocean Township, 38-35, in Emerson to move to an 11-5 record.

In previous action, NHS lost to Cedar Grove, 37-28, Jan. 27, at home.
