OHS girls’ basketball team tops Irvington

ORANGE – Imani May had 16 points, nine steals, five rebounds, two assists and two blocks and Lorenzia Hammer had nine points, seven rebounds, two steals and two blocks to lead the Orange High School girls’ varsity basketball team to a 39-27 home win over Irvington on Saturday, Jan. 9. Imani Paul had seven points and four rebounds; Yvie Saint Paul had four points; Jada Hamilton had two points and four rebounds and Shatiana Fryer had three assists for OHS, which improved to a 5-3 record. OHS outscored Irvington, 15-1, in the first quarter. The Tornadoes snapped Irvington’s three-game winning streak. Irvington moved to 3-4.

In earlier action, the Tornadoes lost at Bloomfield, 51-26, Jan. 7. Hammer had 14 points and four rebounds;May had 10 points, five steals and three assists and Paul had two points.

May had 18 points and five steals; Paul had seven points, 15 rebounds and nine steals; and Hammer had nine points, seven rebounds, six blocks and three steals in the 36-32 home win over Newark Arts on Jan. 2. Hamilton had two points and three rebounds and Deana Evans had three rebounds.
