Orange HS boys’ basketball team falls to Chatham in state tournament first round

ORANGE, NJ – The Orange High School boys’ varsity basketball team, seeded 15th, lost at second-seeded Chatham, 55-45, in the first round of the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2, Group 3 state tournament on Monday, Feb. 26.

The Tornadoes ended their season with an 11-14 record.

Chatham defeated Delbarton, 47-41, Saturday, Feb. 24, to win its third straight Morris County Tournament title.

In earlier action, the Tornadoes defeated Hackettstown, 63-59, Feb. 19, on the road. D’Angelo Blackmand had 30 points and 18 rebounds; Henry Jean-Baptiste had 14 points and eight rebounds; Quasean Waithe scored 12 points; Mischael Noelvil had four points; Zanety Joseph added two points and Armand Jacques collected 13 assists.

OHS fell at Newark Central Central, 66-62, Feb. 21. Blackmand had 17 points and 17 rebounds; Jacques notched 15 points and six assists; Joseph posted nine points and seven steals; Noelvil had seven points; Arjae Langley had five points; Jashon Campbell and Giovanni Paterkin each had three points; Waithe added two points and Hassan Hester hit a free throw.

OHS lost at Phillipsburg, 60-59, Feb. 24.
