Orange HS boys’ basketball team gears up for state tournament

ORANGE, NJ – The Orange High School boys’ varsity basketball team, seeded 15th, will visit No. 2 seed Chatham in the first round of the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2, Group 3 state tournament on Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. The winner will play the winner of No. 10 seed Middletown North and No. 7 seed Governor Livingston in the quarterfinals Feb. 28.

The Tornadoes defeated Newark Tech and lost to Seton Hall Prep to move to a 10-11 record.

D’Angelo Blackmand had 18 points and 18 rebounds and Henry Jean-Baptiste scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the 47-45 win over Newark Tech on Feb. 13 at home.

Orange lost to Seton Hall Prep, 6-57, Feb. 15, at home. Blackmand had 15 points and 16 rebounds and Quasean Waithe had 13 points. Mischael Noelvil had nine points and Jean-Baptiste had eight points and eight rebounds.
