Orange HS boys’ basketball team tops Columbia for first win of season

ORANGE, NJ – Senior power forward Henry Jean-Baptiste scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds and senior center D’Angelo Blackmand had 13 points 17 rebounds and six blocks to lead the Orange High School boys’ varsity basketball team to its first win of the season, 55-38, over Columbia on Dec. 27 in the Union City Holiday tournament. Senior point guard Armand Jacques had 12 points and four assists; and senior Mischael Noelvil had eight points.

The Tornadoes then lost to tournament host Union City, 61-54, Dec. 29, to fall to a 1-4 record this season.

In earlier action, Blackmand had 13 points and Noelvil had 11 points in a 56-42 loss at Linden on Dec. 21. Linden is the two-time defending Group 4 state champion.
