Orange HS boys basketball team wins three straight games

ORANGE, NJ — The Tornadoes won three straight games, beating North Star Academy, Nutley and Newark Arts to improve to 5-5 on the season.

Senior guard Zakeem Burton scored 26 points and junior gaurd Hassan Hester had 10 points and 11 rebounds to lead OHS to a 58-41 win over North Star Academy on Jan. 7 in Newark. Junior forward Kyle Robinson had 10 points and senior Devon McKay had eight points.

Hester had 16 points and senior center Giovanni Paterkin and Robinson each had 15 points in the 54-44 win at Nutley on Jan. 9. Burton added eight points.

Burton had 30 points and Robinson had 21 points to lead the Tornadoes to an 83-51 home win over Newark Arts on Jan. 11. Jamari Hall-Hawkins had 13 points, Paterkin had 12 points, eight rebounds and four blocks.

The Tornadoes won five of their last seven games after an 0-3 start.
In previous action, Paterkin had 26 points, Burton had 11 points and Hester had 10 points and 12 assists in the 74-47 win over Shabazz on Jan. 3 at home. OHS fell at Watchung Hills, 60-36, Jan. 4.
