ORANGE, NJ – The Orange High School boys’ varsity basketball team bounced back from its heartbreaking loss to East Orange Campus with two straight wins over Newark Tech and West Essex to improve to a 5-7 overall record.
Senior center D’Angelo Blackmand had 26 points, 14 rebounds and seven blocked shots to power the Tornadoes past Newark Tech, 76-63, Jan. 16, at home in a Super Essex Conference-Liberty Division game.
Senior forward Quasean Waithe had 13 points; Henry Jean-Baptiste posted 11 points and seven rebounds; senior guard Mischeal Noelvil notched eight points, six assists and four steals; senior point guard Armand Jacques notched six points and six assists; Zanety Joseph scored six points and grabbed four rebounds; and Argae Langley added two points.
OHs defeated West Essex, 59-41, Jan. 20. Blackmand had 20 points and Jean-Baptiste and Jacques each had eight points. Waithe and Noelvil each had six points; Jashon Campbell had four points and Hassan Hester had three points.
