ORANGE, NJ – The Orange High School boys’ varsity soccer team, seeded 20th, defeated West Caldwell Tech before losing to Columbia in the Essex County Tournament.
Cristan Dutan had one goal and two assists in the 4-0 win over No. 25 seed West Caldwell Tech on Oct. 14 in the first preliminary round at home.
Aleks Cardoza, Kevin Martinez, and Juvens Merceda each had a goal and Clifford Bonheur had an assist.
OHS fell to 13th-seeded Columbia, 2-0, in the second preliminary round on Saturday, Oct. 13, at Columbia HS in Maplewood to move to a 10-5 record.
In earlier action, the Tornadoes defeated Bloomfield Tech, 3-0, Oct. 6, at home. Anderson Amador had one goal and one assist; Clifford Bonheur and Cardoza each had a goal; and Jorge Arevalo and Michael Sanchez each had an assist. Simond made four saves.
OHS lost at North Bergen, 1-0, Oct. 8.
Amador scored both goals to lead the Tornadoes to a 2-1 win at Belleville on Oct. 11. Cardoza and Dutan each had an assist, and Richalesen Simond had three saves.
