Orange HS football team defeats Newark Central behind Tyrese Harris’ 263 rushing yards

ORANGE, NJ – Tyrese Harris rushed for 263 yards and a touchdown on 30 carries and George Crespo threw two touchdown passes to Quesean Waite to lead the Orange High School varsity football team to a 22-7 win over Newark Central at Bell Stadium on Friday, Oct. 28.

The Tornadoes improved to a 4-4 record with their third win in four games.

In the first quarter, Crespo threw a 18-yard touchdown pass to Waite to make it 6-0.

Crespo also connected with Waite on a 23-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. Nyquee Hawkins caught the two-point conversion pass from Crespo as the Tornadoes led 14-0 at the half.

Central scored a touchdown in the third quarter to cut it to 14-7.

Harris ran for a 35-yard touchdown and Hawkins caught the two-point conversion pass from Crespo in the fourth quarter.

Defensively for the Tornadoes, Nasier Givens had 11 tackles and a sack; Ezechiel Conserve had eight tackles; Tazmir Holcomb had seven tackles and a sack; Umar Jenkins had six tackles and an interception; Nigel Thomas had five tackles and a forced fumble; Dequan Battle had two interceptions; Hawkins had four tackles and Hoschama Joseph had two tackles and a forced fumble.

The Tornadoes will visit Chatham on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 2 p.m.
