ORANGE, NJ – (corrected Tuesday Oct. 4, 1:54 p.m.) – The Orange High School varsity football team hopes to snap a three-game losing streak.
The Tornadoes will visit Barringer on Saturday, Oct. 8, at 1 p.m. at Schools Stadium.
OHS fell to Passaic Valley, 20-12, Friday, Sept. 30, at Bell Stadium to fall to a 1-3 record.
Passaic Valley improved to 2-2.
Senior slotback Tyrese Harris rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries and sophomore George Crespo completed seven of 17 passes for 70 yards and a touchdown for the Tornadoes.
Passaic Valley led 13-0. Vincenzo Brigati scored on an 18-yard run in the first quarter and Shaun Benford swept 28 yards for touchdown in the third quarter.
Harris scored on an 11-yard run later in the third quarter to cut it to 13-6. The extra point failed.
In the fourth quarter, Passaic Valley extended the lead to 20-6 with a fumble return for a touchdown.
The Tornadoes answered as Crespo hit junior Quesean Waite for an 11-yard touchdown pass. The two-point conversion passed.
But Passaic Valley held on for the win.
Senior slotback Dequan Battles had four catches for 49 yards for the Tornadoes.
Defensively for the Tornadoes, senior inside linebacker Umar Jenkins had 13 tackles and one fumble recovery; senior tackle Ezechiel Conserve had 12 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble; junior inside linebacker Mahkye Boswell had 11 tackles; and sophomore defensive back Nyquee Hawkins and junior inside linebacker Nasier Givens each had nine tackles.
