ORANGE, NJ — The Orange High School football team defeated Belleville, 13-7, in Belleville to snap a two-game losing streak and improve to a 5-3 overall record.
Belleville fell to 6-2.
After a scoreless first half, the Tornadoes scored both touchdowns in the third quarter. Junior Montez Boswell scored on a 66-yard touchdown run on the first play of the third quarter and the extra point made it 7-0.
Senior Al’Ky-juan Green had a two-yard TD run to make it 13-0. After scoring the TD, Green flipped the ball to the referee, but the ball unintentionally hit the ref in the face. In an apologetic gesture, Green hugged the ref briefly. The humorous moment was caught on video, which went viral.
Boswell finished with 179 rushing yards on 16 carries. Senior quarterback Zyvion Latham passed for 101 yards on seven of 13 passing attempts and rushed for 57 yards on five carries.
Ashly Hertilien had seven tackles; Boswell had five tackles and Green, junior Louce Julien and senior Omar May each had four tackles. Sophomore Kyle Robinson had three tackles and a fumble recovery.
The Tornadoes will host Parsippany Hills on Friday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. Parsippany Hills defeated West Essex, 35-7, at home on Saturday, Oct. 19, to improve to 6-2.
