ORANGE – Imani May, a junior, had a game-high 20 points with five rebounds and five steals but the 13th-seeded Orange High School girls’ varsity basketball team lost at fourth-seeded Newark Shabazz in the first round of the Essex County Tournament on Feb. 13.
Imani Paul, a sophomore, had 13 points and junior Lorenzah Hammer had nine points for the Lady Tornadoes, who moved to a 12-7 record. In their previous game, OHS defeated No. 20 seed Newark Arts, 56-33, in the ECT second preliminary round on Feb. 8 at home.
The Tornadoes, seeded eighth, will host ninth-seeded Warren Hills in the first round of the state North Jersey Section 2, Group 3 tournament on Feb. 29.
