ORANGE – Lorenzia Hammer, a junior, had 17 points and five steals and sophomore Jada Hamilton had six points and seven rebounds to lead the Orange High School girls’ varsity basketball team to a 42-38 home win over Baringer on Jan. 28 for their fourth straight victory to improve to a 10-4 record.
Imani Paul, a sophomore, had four points and junior Jonai Hill had two points, 12 rebounds, two assists and three blocks for the Lady Tornadoes, who led 18-14 at halftime and outscored Barringer, 13-9, in the third quarter for a 31-22 lead.
The 13th-seeded Tornadoes will host No. 32 seed Newark Arts in
the first preliminary round of the Essex County Tournament on or by Feb. 6.
