ORANGE – The Orange High School boys’ and girls’ track and field teams gave good efforts at the state North Jersey Section 2, Group 3 Championships at Ridge HS in Basking Ridge, May 27-28.
For the OHS girls’ team, senior Onunene Albert finished second in the 100-meter dash (12.60) and sixth in the 200-meter dash (26.31). Albert also was seventh in the 400-meter dash (59.82), just missed medalling.
Senior Avosuahi Albert was third in the 400-meter dash (57.80) for the Tornadoes.
Avosuahi Albert, sophomores Deyliannis Delgado and Jada Steeley-Williams and senior Destini Williams took sixth in the 4×100-meter relay in 51.83.
Onunene Albert joined Avosuahi Albert, Delgado and Steeley-Williams in taking sixth in the 4×400 in 4:08.34.
For the OHS boys’ team, Jean Julien took fourth (11.34) and fellow senior Albert Kolubah took sixth (11.40) in the 100-meter dash.
The top six finishers in each event at the sectionals qualified for the state Group 3 Championships at Northern Burlington Regional HS in Columbus, June 3-4.
