Orange HS wrestler Ezechiel Conserve has good showing at Region 4

ORANGE – Orange High School wrestler Ezechiel Conserve enjoyed a good showing at the Region 4 Tournament at West Orange High School.

Conserve, a junior, finished in fifth/sixth place in the 285-pound weight class.

After receiving a preliminary round bye on Feb. 24, Conserve lost to Paterson Kennedy’s Will Lyde, 6-4, in the quarterfinals on Feb. 26. Conserve decisioned Lyde, 5-4, to win the District 13 Tournament title the previous week.

After losing to Lyde, Conserve returned the next day and decisioned Hasbrouck Heights’ Dashawn Nelson, 8-5, in the wrestlebacks quarterfinals, but then was pinned by Clifton’s Jacob Abill in 1:38 to become eliminated.

Conserve finished with a 24-12 record this season.

Pierre Senat and Ebenson Macenat also represented OHS at the Region Tournament, which consisted of the top three finishers in each weight class from the district tournaments. Both lost in the preliminary round on Feb. 24 to become eliminated.

Senat, a freshman, lost by technical fall to Matthew Daub of Lyndhurst/North Arlington, 17-1, in 4:56 in the 106-pound class to finish with a 15-15 record.

Macenat, a sophomore, lost to Mathew Burak of Livingston, 9-6, in the 120-pound class to finish with a 24-14 record.

At the District 13 Tournament at West Essex in North Caldwell on Feb. 20, Senat and Macenat each finished second in their weight classes.
