WEST ORANGE – Catherine Jordan won the girls’ high jump event to lead the Columbia High School girls’ indoor track and field team at the Essex County Individual Championships at the Jersey City Armory on Sunday, Jan. 31.
Jordan, a sophomore, leaped 5 feet. Jordan also took fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:27.01 and joined sophomore Ciara French, junior Dahria Lewis and sophomore Emma Cook in taking fourth in the 4×400-meter relay in 4:16.84.
French also took second in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.93.
CHS finished fifth overall in the team standings based on the top-six finishes in each event. Montclair won the girls’ team title. Millburn was second; Livingston was third and Weequahic took fourth.
On the boys’ side, the Cougars finished ninth overall.
Venchardson Vital, a senior, took third in the 800-meter run in 2:01.93, and joined sophomore Jonathan Salinardo, senior Donte Rolley and junior Jeremiah Richardson in taking sixth in the 4×400-meter relay in 3:26.06, to lead CHS.
David Ives, a sophomore, took fourth in the 3,200-meter run in 10:02.17 and senior Roody Ovil was fifth in the high jump at 6 feet for CHS.
Weequahic won the boys’ team title.
