Columbia HS baseball coach Joe Fischetti will coach in All-Star baseball game in 2016

MAPLEWOOD – Columbia High School head varsity baseball coach Joe Fischetti has been selected to coach in the annual Essex/Union Underclassmen All-Star Game next year.

The nine-inning game will be held June 20, with a rain date of June 22, at Kean University in Union.

Last June, CHS had three players – catcher Quinn Krais, and pitchers Danny Boehmer and Pete Nolet – selected for the Essex/Union game, the maximum number of players allowed by one team. Boehmer and Nolet will be eligible to play in the game in June as both are juniors. Krais is a senior.

This past spring, the Cougars were one of the best teams in the area. Under Fischetti, the Cougars finished with a stellar 23-4 record, setting school records for most wins and fewest losses in a season. Fischetti also was named Worrall Media All-Area Baseball Coach of the Year.
