Columbia HS boys’ basketball team earns wins

MAPLEWOOD – Senior Kevin Bostic scored a game-high 20 points with three 3-pointers to lead the Columbia High School boys’ varsity basketball team to a 75-67 overtime win over Newark Tech on Jan. 12 at home.

Senior 6-foot-3 Davidson Racine had 18 points, eight rebounds and two blocks; junior John Reed had 17 points; senior 6-foot-5 Henry Voorhees had seven points, 14 rebounds and four blocks; and sophomore 6-foot Brandon Askew had eight points and two assists for the Cougars, who outscored Newark Tech, 15-7, in overtime.

Bostic had 19 points and six assists in the 66-57 win over Bayonne at the Orange High School M.L.K. Classic on Jan. 18. Reed had 10 points; Voorhees had eight points and eight rebounds; sophomore Stephan Gabriel had eight points and 10 boards and Racine had six points as CHS improved to a 5-6 record.
