Columbia HS boys’ basketball team falls in states to end season

MAPLEWOOD, NJ – The Columbia High School boys’ varsity basketball team ended its season after losing at top-seeded Newark East Side, 76-42, in the first round of the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2, Group 4 state tournament on Feb. 27.

Zayon Marsh scored 13 points; Nasheim Harte had eight points; Breizh Askew had five; Brandon Dalembert had four; Russell Ayala and Dylan Jones each had three; and Justin Bobbitt, Jun Harriman and Darius Plummer each added two for the Cougars, who had their three-game losing streak snapped and finished the season with a 10-15 record. Columbia lost all three meetings this season to East Side, ranked No. 7 in the state.
