Columbia HS boys’ basketball team starts season at 1-1

MAPLEWOOD – The Columbia High School boys’ varsity basketball team defeated University and lost to Seton Hall Prep to begin the season at 1-1.

Henry Voorhees had 14 points, eight rebounds and three blocks and David Rancine had 11 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks to lead the Cougars to a 54-53 win over University on Friday, Dec. 18, at University in Newark.

Kevin Bostic added 11 points for the Cougars.

The next day, the Cougars fell to Seton Hall Prep, 58-34, in the Hoop Group Tip-Off Showcase at Caldwell University.

The Cougars were scheduled to host Irvington on Dec. 22, and will participate in the Paterson Charter School Christmas Tournament, Dec. 26-27 and 29.
