Columbia HS boys’ basketball team surges into postseason

MAPLEWOOD, NJ – The Columbia High School boys’ varsity basketball team defeated Medford Tech and Bridgewater-Raritan to extend their win streak to three games and improve to a 10-14 record.

Breizh Askew had 21 points, seven assists, four steals and four rebounds in a 67-60 home win over Medford Tech on Feb. 21. Nasheim Harte had 12 points, six rebounds and four steals; Zayon Marsh had 12 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals; Justin Bobbitt collected eight points and three rebounds and Darius Plummer posted four points and two rebounds.

Marsh had 15 points and 10 rebounds; Harte had 10 points; Jun Harriman had nine points; Bobbitt scored seven; and Askew had six in the 52-42 home win over Bridgewater-Raritan on Feb. 24.

The 16th-seeded Cougars will visit top-seeded Newark East Side in the first round of the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2, Group 4 state tournament on Feb. 27 at 7 p.m.
