MAPLEWOOD, NJ – Nasheim Harte had 21 points, five rebounds and three assists and Avery Chavis-Lingham had 12 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots to lead the Columbia High School boys’ varsity basketball team to a 61-57 win over host Snyder on Jan. 20 in Jersey City.
Breizh Askew had 14 points and four assists and Zayon Marsh scored eight points for the Cougars, who snapped a four-game losing streak and improved to a 5-6 record.
In earlier action, the Cougars gave a good effort against undefeated Seton Hall Prep, 60-52, Jan. 16, at home in a Super Essex Conference-American Division game. Marsh had 13 points and 13 rebounds; Askew also had 13 points; Harte had 11 points; Russell Ayala posted eight points and Brandon Dalembert had six points and four rebounds. Seton Hall Prep outscored Columbia, 21-14, in the second quarter for a 34-26 halftime lead.
Seton Hall Prep improved to 11-0 with the win.
