Columbia HS boys’ lacrosse team defeats Governor Livingston

MAPLEWOOD and SOUTH ORANGE – Nile Garcia scored four goals and added one assist; Cameron Herbert had two goals and two assists; and Thaddeus Sabin had two goals to lead the Columbia High School boys’ varsity lacrosse team to a 15-4 win over Governor Livingston on Monday, April 18, at Underhill Field. Will O’Mara had one goal and three assists; Dion Bryan had one goal and one assist; Orterro Felton, Ben Majtyka, and Jacob Walthour each had a goal; Brian Young had two assists and Brendan Lackey had one assist. Walthour had eight ground balls and Felton had seven. Andrew Maloney made 12 saves for CHS, which improved to a 2-6 record.

In earlier action, the Cougars lost to St. Joseph of Montvale, 9-4, April 12, in Montvale.

O’Mara and Young each had one goal and one assist; Garcia and Felton each had one goal and Will Maloney had 14 saves for CHS.

CHS lost to Caldwell, 11-3, April 14. Felton, James Thomson and Walthour each had a goal.  Herbert and O’Mara each had an assist.

Garcia scored four goals in the tough 8-7 home loss to Cranford in overtime on April 16. Herbert and O’Mara each had one goal and one assist; Walthour had one goal and Felton recorded 10 ground balls.
