Columbia HS boys’ soccer team blanks West Essex; CHS field hockey team prevails

MAPLEWOOD, NJ – Cameron Ripley and Aidan Reeves each scored a goal in the first half to lead the Columbia High School boys’ varsity soccer team to a 2-0 win over West Essex on Sept. 29 at CHS’ Ritzer Field in a Super Essex Conference crossover game.

Vincent Zakian and Clarence Jones each had an assist as the Cougars improved to 2-3-2.

In the previous game two days earlier, the Cougars played highly-regarded West Orange to a scoreless tie at West Orange in a SEC-American Division game. Sam Maidenberg made 12 saves for Columbia.

CHS field hockey team tops Livingston

Annie Pasternak scored all four goals to lead the Columbia High School varsity field hockey team to a 4-2 win over Livingston on Sept. 29 at Underhill Field.

Peyton Kemp, Ruby Sigmund, and Natalie Zacker each had an assist, and Jasmine Dallison made six saves for Columbia, which improved to a 4-6 record.
