Columbia HS boys’ soccer team falls to No. 1 seed Seton Hall Prep in ECT quarterfinals

WEST ORANGE, NJ – The ninth-seeded Columbia High School varsity boys’ soccer team lost to top-seeded Seton Hall Prep, 6-3, in the quarterfinals of the Essex County Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 21, in West Orange.

Avery Coreschi scored two goals and Daniel Teitelbaum had one goal for the Cougars. Donald Cameron, Mack Turi and Joe Dente each had an assist for CHS, which had its four-game winning streak snapped to move to a 9-6 record.

Joe Dente had two goals and one assist and Avery Coreschi and Mack Turi each had a goal and an assist in the 5-1 win at eighth-seeded West Essex in the first round on Oct. 19 in North Caldwell. Ben Olender had one goal and Sammy Freedson had one assist. Sam Maidenberg made 12 saves.
