Columbia HS boys’ soccer team wins two straight to snap four-game skid

MAPLEWOOD/SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – The Columbia High School boys’ varsity soccer team won two straight games following a four-game losing streak.

Rashid Peart scored on a golden goal in double overtime to lift the Columbia High School boys’ varsity soccer team to a 2-1 win over Verona on Sept. 29 at CHS’ Ritzer Field.

Joe Dente had the assist. Dente scored on an assist by Peart in the first half to give the Cougars a 1-0 at the half.

Sam Maidenberg made five saves for CHS.

The Cougars followed that win with a 3-0 victory over Livingston on Saturday, Oct. 1, at Ritzer Field. Dente had one goal and one assist; and Van Brantley and Stevie Feinman-Riordan each had a goal. Alex Lauder and Joe Borello each had an assist. Maidenberg made five saves.

In previous action, the Cougars lost to a strong East Side team, 4-0, Sept. 27, in Newark.
